Seattle!

This will probably be a really short post, seeing as we're leaving to go to Chipotle soon. However, I just wanted to take a moment to share the adventures of Larn and Sara this past week. We've been hanging out with some Vocal Union friends in good ol' Seattle! It has been a blast. We've stayed up far too late every night, gone to Pike's Market, a Mariner's game, EMP, Snoqualmie Falls...

...it has been so much fun! Don't fret - we'll post pictas soon.

Radi-wha?!

You may be asking yourself right now, "Oh. my. gosh. WHAT is up with the den these days?! It's been far too long since they've updated!"

Fear not. All will be revealed unto you.

Needless to say, with finals and projects and papers and tests and graduations galore, it has been quite the madhouse around here. Dishes? - well...they get done, mostly. Clean checks? - I haven't found any mold yet. (We'll keep you posted). Grocery shopping? - PBJ & Nutella never tasted so good. We're surviving, and that's all that matters.

In more exciting news! - Our dear roommate Becca Price finalized an internship in Boulder, Colorado, scheduled to begin April 22nd. She'll be doing mostly copyrighting for an advertising company there, and getting paid! Not too shabby!

And our littlest, but maybe most ambitious member of the rambunctious crew, Megan, just landed herself an spot in the radiology program at BYU Provo! And if you're anything like me, you might be wondering what radiology is. Radiology is...simply...x-rays? ....for to learn how to.... Well...maybe you should just Wikipedia it. Anyway, this is a tough spot to get! So if you're asking yourself, "Should I be excited about this?", be excited about this! Out of forty who got interviewed, only twenty got accepted! So can we get a shout out for our little baby Megan? Way to be, girl.

And in closing:
Just in case you didn't think it could happen twice - BEAUTIFUL weather was, once again, bestowed upon the humble town of Rexburg today. So in celebration, a few of us roomies took the liberty of laying out on the front lawn for a good hour and half this afternoon. Quality bonding time? Absolutely. Did we get tanner? Absolutely not.

Tea Time!

Life is a compilation of moments. The good, the bad, and the ugly - we take 'em all.

Today, thanks to beautiful weather (YES! It CAN happen in Rexburg!), we all managed to make it through another Wednesday, another clean check, and another day of classes. One of the moments that made the day beautiful? - Three Minute Tea Time! Complete with graham crackers and chocolate frosting, and followed by a frisbee game in the yard.

A most complete day...

...indeed.

Quirks

Our lovely abode doesn't seem to have enough quirks on it's own so of course we, as residents, must add to it's splendor.

Firstly, it becomes a game to try and figure out who wrote on the dishwasher depending on what is said. And obviously the word of the day must be implemented into our vocabulary. It is used as often as deemed necessary and correct...or just as much as we can fit it into a sentence.

Secondly, cups have become nonexistent in this house and have recently been removed from the endangered species list and added to the extinct list. We have mugs instead. Yes, you know, hot chocolate mugs. The ones you cradle and caress in your hands to warm yourself up from a day of playing in the snow. They come in all shapes and sizes. We don't know where most of them came from.

Thirdly, I would like to introduce this chair. It's seen better days I'm sure, but it's never been as loved as it is now in it's broken form. It resides in the corner of the vanity, next to the radiator where many go to seek warmth and comfort. I must say, having a chair so completely low to the ground (absolutely on the ground) is extremely comfortable in ways only expressed when sat upon.

Megan. (Apparently it means "pearl"?)

Today we had a moment of heart-felt, honest-to-goodness panic in the den. As I was re-discovering my love of the band Death Cab for Cutie I walked aimlessly into the living room to chat with Megan. I mentioned something about really liking the song "What Sarah Said" because it had my name in it, after which Megan exclaimed, "There aren't any songs with my name in them!"
It's true. She said that. She even whined.
Anyway...
About ten minutes later (and by ten minutes I mean 30 seconds) Megan's hope and joy was restored.
She had found "her" song...

Luckily, it's a good song. And luckily, it's originally sung by a band called the Smoking Popes. Luckily.

News from the Den

ROAD TRIP!!!
Okay...by road trip we mean, road trip around the corner to FHE. Tonight was eventful to say the least. How did we lose the paper with the directions on it between getting in the car and the (should have been) five minute drive to the Hochstrasser's? - Don't ask. We're just that talented. The important thing is that we made it...right? We were only a half hour late. We only misled two cars full of people. It's NBD.
Moral of the story - eight girls crammed in a five-seater for 30 minutes equals the best Monday night of your life.

L-A-R-N. Larn.

Hi, I'm Larn. I'm basically
 Just rearry, rearry

UH-mazing...

This delightful little number is called Lauren Brower; or as she is fondly referred to by those who love her most: Larn.
She's a sassy little thing - full of spice and pizazz.
Cute.
Fun.
Funny.
Sensitive.
Humble.
Talented.
Spiritual.
Loving.
Singer.
Dancer.
Sister.
Daughter.
Friend.
She'll often grunt to signal approval when she's really happy, or maybe just really tired. Another sign of Lauren's happiness? - her infectious (and contagious) laughter. Her favorite way to pass the time is to make herself incredibly busy so she gets so stressed she can barely function. When she's not preoccupied with that, she sings. Or plays. Or eats (occasionally). If she's feeling really saucy she'll listen to her roommate/spouse pour out all of her emotions dramatically, finish with an affectionate, "Well, that'll get chya", and then climb into bed to re-charge for the next full day.
Lauren's current ambitions? - Besides the obvious being hilarious, motivated, determined, accomplished, wanted by all the boys in her dad's BYU-I men's choir, a bomb musician, and just all-around awesome?
Well...I'll tell you.
The next big adventure in the life of Larn - Being a Performance Missionary in Nauvoo, Illinois for four months starting in May! Talk about picking the perfect person for the job!
(Don't worry, we'll be posting her address for all of you eligible young men out there. I know...if I were you, I would be anxious to write her, too)
In short, Larn is a complete package. She's here to do the job, and she's here to get it done right. You couldn't ask for a better (or more adorable and lovable) friend or confidante.
Fo' real.

Love her with all of my hearts!!
ALL of them.

Questionable Things

So sometimes our living room turns into a death trap. Almost like monsters are grabbing at your ankles from under the couches trying to trip you up as you fight your way through the living room. This set up happens on a regular weekend basis. Trying to get through this room after a movie night is always an adventure.

Dishes here are also an incredible battle. I don't think that sink has ever been completely empty for more than a few hours. But what do you expect with 8 girls who all cook?

If you look closely you will come to notice that the glass of orange juice is fizzy. Completely questionable yes? You can also see the jug of orange juice has expanded to an unnatural size and looks about to explode. You can hardly wrap your hand around the handle because the jug is so bloated up. Who knows how long that's been sitting on the table.

Really, life here is just an adventure every day.

The Fantasmic Day of Megan's neonatal debut!

And by neonatal debut I mean Birthday!

Her spritely manner and mature, womanly voice is bewitching to the male persuasion and her saucy vibes keep us all entranced whenever we have the privilege of being in the same room. She's a blogging fiend as full credit for the creation of this blog goes to none else but her, and we as her roommates applaud her novel idea for bringing us all onto the world wide web in such a familial fashion! We have bonded because of this blog! Thanks Megan!

Oh Megan, we are at a loss this very moment because you have gone back home to celebrate your birthday with your family. And we miss you greatly. But, in excited anticipation to welcome you back to Rexburg as a big, bad twenty-year-old, we wait, and we will eat cake in your remembrance.

Hopefully you will get a present from your family that has something to do with bones, blood, or tissue. But mostly we hope for bones. Because you love them. You love bones. We mere roommates may not understand this fascination of yours, but at least we know who to ask in case we have any questions about our bodies. Thank goodness for Anat and Phys.

Thank you Megan, for so many things. The Den just would not be the same without you, your beautiful long brown hair, beautiful, harmonious lark-poised-in-a-tree voice and your purple Chuckies.

Your loving roommate,

Becca

Announcing the Arrival of...Gracie

“The names Bond. Grace Bond.”
Yes this is how Grace introduces herself to anyone and everyone. It’s basically an unwritten law that she must abide by. Plus, how do you not introduce yourself that way when you have the great last name of “Bond”?

Grace is what I would describe as a very “well rounded person”. She could perhaps even be considered an “onion” where you are constantly peeling back layers of diversity in her personality. Of course it’s not a slow process by any means, don’t let the onion analogy fool you. She is instantly lovable and returns the love just as quickly. Plus she smells better than an onion.

You could say that Grace’s personality differences catch you a little off guard in a surprisingly fantastic way. She will frequently jump from hard rock music, to opera and finally finish off with the grand song of “The Winner Takes It All” by Abba. Of course this is all accompanied by headbanging in substantial doses. She is also partial to Megan’s obscure taste in movies (to my delight) and in addition has seen “The 10th Kingdom”.  Which is obviously greatness in itself.

All in all, living with Grace is a party. Not only does she know how to rock and headbang, she also knows how to study well, and give fantastically spiritual lessons. She's practically amazing.

Camilla!!! You're On!!

Fun part about these introductions is that few of us knew each other before meeting in the DEN.  Except for Camilla and me.  We met each other about 15 minutes before the end of last semester, so I can honestly say that besides Sara, I've known Camilla the longest of anyone :)  And knowing her is a treat!  Not only is she the white, female version of Scott Joplin, whipping out any tune that can be played on the 88 black and whites, she's also expert at rooting out unique, unknown media productions that the universe would be better for viewing.  I know I have :)  Also unique to Camilla is her undying love for the music of Bach, which I believe takes a complex, yet pure soul to truly appreciate.  Though perhaps appearing shy, one has only to engage in a midnight battle of stuffed animal warriors to understand the spunkiness that I believe is the foundation of Camilla's personality.  It's this spunkiness that allows her to keep up with the crazy hours that are required of those dedicated souls who have sold themselves to the nursing program.  So to see Camilla's personal library of textbooks is either inspiring, or depressing, depending on one's own dedication to schoolwork.  In summary, Camilla is a spunky, dedicated native of Kentucky who cleans up REAL well, and is a pleasure to have in the Den.

Groundhog Day

Do you remember that overly spacious living room of ours? Well, it has the capabilities to turn into a giant home theater. I know, hard to believe. But it's basically designed after the tents in Harry Potter. Or Mary Poppins purse, take your pick.
(Sorry this picture is the only one that even attempts to show what last night looked like.)

And this picture...just don't ask.

The Den: Starring Sara Marie Pulsipher...

There are many people who gaze upon this beauty and can't help but stare.  She stuns men in their tracks when she harmonizes a beautiful tune with her best friend Billy Joel.  Daily, there are many accounts of people who wish to just spend one day in her tiny little shoes.  In her current role, as herself in "The Den", she has been asked many times if she thinks she is at all like her character.  She admits that she doesn't feel like she is acting at all.  For her, being bubbly, cute, hilarious, spontaneous, flantasmic, thoughtful, caring, and cheery is all part of who she is and she doesn't really need to work hard at it.  The other co-stars in this upcoming comedy show, find her absolutely delightful.  Megan, also playing herself, says, "I love how Sara LOVES soup!  She's always making it and it is fantastic."  Apart from soup being her favorite food, Sara also loves to sleep through her alarm, sleep in other people's rooms, and. . . well. . . sleep in general.  You can't help but love this wonderful character named Sara Marie Pulsipher.  As being one who has the most honored privilege of being her room, roommate, I have gained a deep gushy love for this woman; from the very heart of my bottom. I hope all will look to her for an example in every aspect of life!

The Den

Welcome to The Den: home of eight vibrant girls... Sara, Lauren, Tiffany, Becca, Megan, Amber, Camilla, and Grace. We live in the basement of a perfectly ghetto house wherein carbon monoxide poisoning can happen, flooding is looking apparent, multiple slumber parties occur in the overly spacious living room, workout videos spontaneously erupt in the bathroom, and singing is heard on an hourly basis. I basically adore it.
So this is our blog, dedicated to recording the happenings of The Den.
